Autumn term

Themes this term:

Language, Literacy and Communication Skills

We will be concentrating on developing speaking and listening, reading and writing skills. We will be -

  • Recognising letter sounds
  • Building simple words – dotted words / copying / writing independently
  • Listening to stories related to the themes e.g. Parti Pen-blwydd Gwenno Gwningen; Pen-blwydd Ianto; Fi fy hun; Lola’r Lindys Barus.
  • Creating birthday / Christmas cards
  • Talking about personal experiences e.g. birthday, visit to the hospital.
  • Creating a hospital in the home corner (role play in the hospital).

Mathematical Development

  • Counting to 10 and back and learning number rhymes and songs.
  • Recognising and forming numbers to 10
  • Adding
  • Recognising 2D shapes
  • Learning the days of the week, months of the year and seasons
  • Creating graphs e.g. favourite fireworks
  • Understanding the purpose of money and role play in the shop
  • Various mathematical games

Language, Literacy and Communication Skills

We will be concentrating on developing speaking and listening, reading and writing skills. We will be -

  • Recognising letter sounds / recognising high-frequency words
  • Building simple words – dotted words / copying / writing independently
  • Listening to stories related to the themes e.g. Nel Dwy L; Beth Nesaf?; Yr Hugan Fach Goch; Trên Mawr Glas.
  • Talking about personal experiences e.g. favourite way to travel, how they travel to school.
  • Order a story
  • Creating a garage in the home corner (role play in the garage).
  • Learning new songs related to the themes e.g. Cwch bach yn siglo; Olwynion y bws; Mis Mawrth unwaith eto.
